FAQ

  • What sessions do you offer?

As our business is still relatively new (launched Jan 2023), our offering is still being fine tuned, PLUS our Founder Abi loves anything new!! For now (November 2024) we are working with the following groups: primary school aged children at after school clubs and holiday clubs, 8-16yrs home educated students and those not attending school (parents and carers welcome to join), older people in care homes, adult drawing and painting courses, adult 1:1 sessions, teen 1:1, SEND 1:1 for primary aged children as an alternative provision to school and groups looking for a creative session as part of a well-being initiative - art is very good for your brain!

  • What is your SEND policy?

We have experience with autism, ADHD, anxiety and dyslexia and take children as they are on the day. Our after school and holiday clubs are fairly quiet and calm, while our attendees are busy creating. For anxious children we would say arrange to meet us first, we should be able to show you the space and answer any questions. We can accommodate movement breaks, but it becomes tricky if children need to spend the entire session outside as one of the club leaders needs to be with them. We cannot accommodate children who abscond, are unable to follow health and safety instructions or have significant social interaction difficulties. We cannot provide 1:1 support at our holiday clubs. Our home ed/out of school sessions are suitable for children with SEND as the group sizes are much smaller (up to 8) and parents/carers can stay. We would still advise that its a calm space. Please get in touch with Abi on 07711638110 to make sure the club is suitable for your child.

  • What are your session ratios?

Our after school and holiday clubs go up to 25 children and we have 3 adults for over 15 children. Our Home Ed/Out of school sessions are group sizes 6-8 attendees with 2 adults. Our Adult courses are between 12-15 attendees with 2 Tutors.

  • My child has a 1:1 at school, can you offer that level of support?

We are unable to provide 1:1 support for children, if your child has this at school then our club is not suitable. Our home education sessions welcome parents/carers and we are always looking at ways to open up to our community, so please do email us if you would be interested in specific parent/child sessions.

  • What do we need to bring to a session?

We provide everything required for the art class. Please do not send your children with noisy toys or any sort of toy gun or toy weapon. Soft toys are absolutely fine, we just ask children to move them out of the way of paint.

  • Do I need to have experience of art and be good at drawing to do your sessions?

Absolutely not! Our art and craft sessions are open for all abilities and experience levels.

  • What should I wear to a Love Art Studios class?

To be able to relax in our sessions, its important you wear something comfortable and that you don’t mind getting paint on. Aprons are encouraged!

  • How much are your sessions?

Our sessions start at £12per child for a 1hr after school club, home educated classes are £17per child per session if booked termly, the holiday clubs are £26 a day for AM session and £34 for a home ed PM session, the adult courses are usually £40 for a 2hr class or £60 for a 3hr class bookable in 2 or 6weeks blocks depending on the length of the course. The prices are listed on our events page for each session. For care homes we do an intro price of £90 for 90mins with up to 12 participants, rising to £120 after 3 months. We provide 2 experienced art facilitators and plenty of inspiration and art materials. If you have a creative project and you would like a quote please email us: hello@loveartstudios.co.uk

  • How do you keep everyone safe at your sessions?

We take safeguarding seriously and every team member has completed child protection and safeguarding training with NSPCC. We all have enhanced DBS checks and are on the update service. Our club leaders have all recently completed paediatric first aid and we have a behaviour and safeguarding policy that goes to every parent that books a session with us. Love Art Studios is fully insured.

  • What does being in 'the creative zone' mean?

It’s a time to switch off, to let your mind focus on the activity, choose colours, sweeping a paintbrush across a page, learning a new technique for creating texture or squiding clay in our hands. Our brains are often very busy and giving ourselves time in the creative zone is good for us all. There is a new book called Our Brain on Art which is the scientific evidence for why we should all experience art when we can - as it is so good for us!

  • My child may need personal care, is that ok?

We are not able to provide personal care for children, our staff ratios need to allow enough team members to be with the group at all times for safeguarding.

  • Why is your registered off in Manchester? I thought you were Sussex based?

We are a fully portable service wihout an office or fixed address. Our registered address is our accountant. Our Founder lives in Ditchling.

  • Interested in working for us?

We are a team of professional artists and creatives passionate about supporting people on their own artistic journey. There is plenty of learning that happens at our sessions, but we are not teachers - no learning outcomes here! Think more person-centred and freedom. We have a mix of hours available from after school clubs 15.00-17.30, care homes 13.30-16.00, home ed/out of school usually in school hours, we are interested in hearing from artists looking to run evening or weekend sessions. If you think you are a good fit for our growing team, get in touch by email to hello@loveartstudios.co.uk with an email and a CV or outline of your experience. We process enhanced DBS checks for all of our workers and they cost you £52.40, Love Art Studios pays for safeguarding training with NSPCC and provides a fabulous black apron with our logo on. We have quarterly team coffees out and a supportive WhatsApp group.
