How will the sessions be structured?
Ginny begins with a short discussion on observational techniques, seeing shapes, negative space and tonal values.
You will loosen up with quick gesture sketches, focusing on basic forms rather than details.
Guided by Ginny, participants work slowly and intentionally, focusing on:
Contour drawing: Developing accuracy in line work.
Light & Shadow: Understanding tonal values and shading techniques.
Perspective & Proportion: Ensuring objects relate correctly in space.
Ginny moves around the room, offering individual feedback and demonstrating techniques when needed.
It’s your choice whether you work on a single study for a number of weeks, complete a drawing each session or practice with quick drawings and creating textures. We can work flexibly.
Refinement & Texture Exploration:
Introducing different mark-making techniques (cross-hatching, stippling, blending).
Exploring how to depict surface textures
Encouraging contrast and depth for a more three-dimensional effect.
Ginny will share tips on how to continue practicing at home, including suggested still life setups and exercises.
